Astra Giurgiu – another Step towards Building a Modern Stadium
This fall, the modernization works of the stand of the stadium in Giurgiu were completed. After this modernization, the stadium has approximately 5,500 seats. Kadra supplied 25 mm cellular polycarbonate with a double X structure for the construction of the stand’s canopy. This polycarbonate has 9 walls (8 air chambers) forming an X-shaped structure inside.
Having this structure and a thickness of 25 mm, this polycarbonate allowed the construction of a strong and rigid structure with a very long lifespan. With UV treatment, the polycarbonate does not discolor and does not lose its physico-chemical properties over time. Approximately 150 sheets totaling 1890 sqm of polycarbonate were used for the construction of the canopy.
The advantages of such a polycarbonate structure are high resistance, retention of physical and chemical properties over time, and the possibility of easy modification (even extension) of the structure or replacement of damaged areas in case of accidents.
The stadium stand is equipped with transparent curtain walls on the lateral areas. For their construction, 8 mm compact polycarbonate was used. This Kadra solution met the beneficiary’s requirements, offering an optimal quality/price ratio and extended warranty for the work. In total, approximately 370 sqm of polycarbonate were used. This polycarbonate is also UV treated, with Kadra guaranteeing the retention of physical and chemical properties over time.
The project in Giurgiu is one of the projects where the Kadra team sought to maximize cost optimization while maintaining the same high standards of work quality and guaranteeing the materials used for several years.
"The project at Astra Giurgiu was unique for us, both the management and the staff involved, and even the story of this football club inspired passion, everything was lively and eager for affirmation. Consequently, the stand had to fully coincide with this state of mind. We managed to do that and more, we met all the beneficiary's expectations regarding both costs and work guarantee."
