Service and Maintenance
Automated pedestrian access systems operate daily, hundreds or thousands of times, in buildings with a continuous flow of people. Automatic doors, turnstiles, and speed gates are the first points of contact between users and the building—and a malfunction at this level is immediately visible and directly affects the experience of everyone entering or exiting. Regular equipment maintenance keeps each system within the parameters it was designed for and prevents unexpected situations.
For sliding, swing, and revolving doors, detection sensors, the operator, and safe stop functions are checked in accordance with EN 16005. For turnstiles and speed gates, locking mechanisms, card or badge readers, and flow processing speed are tested. For doors with a break-out system, the folding of the door leaves for evacuation is checked. For all equipment, the condition of mechanical components, guides, and fixings is checked.
For most applications, at least one annual inspection is recommended. In high-traffic buildings—shopping centers, airports, hospitals, sites with numerous staff—semi-annual checks keep equipment at optimal parameters and reduce the risk of downtime during peak hours. A consistent service and maintenance program extends the equipment’s lifespan and protects the long-term investment.
