Fire-resistant curtain service
Rapid interventions, audit, and maintenance
Inspections, maintenance, and repairs for fire curtains and their control systems. We identify issues that may affect curtain closure and determine the work needed for remediation. We operate nationwide, in commercial, administrative, medical, and industrial buildings.

Why you need service for fire-resistant curtains
In normal operation, a fire-resistant curtain usually remains retracted in the housing above the protected opening. This discreet integration can mean that damage or malfunctions go unnoticed.
When the system is activated, the curtain must reach the position specified in the design. Operation depends on the entire assembly: fabric, winding shaft, side guides, bottom bar, drive mechanism, and control devices. Checking the motor alone does not confirm the operation of the entire system.
Maintenance helps identify wear, damage, and obstacles that may prevent closure. It is relevant both for a single piece of equipment and for building portfolios in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, Constanța, Brașov and throughout the country.
5 signs a fire-resistant curtain needs inspection

1. The curtain does not descend during the trigger test
If it does not respond to the closing command during an inspection, the triggering system, drive mechanism, and mechanical components must be evaluated. The cause is determined through diagnostics, depending on the model and installation configuration.

2. Descent is uneven or incomplete
A tilted bottom bar, fabric bunching unevenly, or stopping before the final position justifies an inspection. There may be issues with the guides, the winding, or obstacles in the descent area.

3. The fabric or guide elements are damaged
Tears, perforations, deformations, and loosened fastenings require technical evaluation. The curtain material is part of the fire protection assembly; interventions must be determined according to the manufacturer's documentation.

4. The control panel indicates a fault
The signals may indicate power supply issues, battery problems, or control and drive circuit faults. The meaning should be checked in the equipment documentation. A persistent fault indicator requires diagnostics, even if there is no visible damage.

5. The curtain does not return correctly to the open position
After a test and reset according to procedure, the curtain must return to the specified position. Incomplete raising, unusual noises, or the inability to hold position justifies checking the drive mechanism and the holding system.

Act quickly, reduce repair costs
Keep the descent area clear and notify the technical manager if you notice a problem. Tests are organized with qualified personnel, without forcing the curtain or modifying the protective devices.
Services for fire-resistant curtains

Technical
audit
The audit determines the condition of the equipment and the work required. We check the fabric, housing, guides, fastenings, drive mechanism, holding devices, controls, and signals. We perform functional tests together with the building manager and identify obstacles or changes in the protected area.
You receive a technical report, remediation recommendations, and an estimated quote. You find out what is urgent, what can be planned, and what is worth budgeting for in the future.
Maintenance subscriptions
We plan inspections and operations tailored to the model: component evaluation, manufacturer-approved maintenance, and testing of curtain descent and return. The frequency is determined according to the manufacturer’s instructions and installation requirements.
KADRA offers CARE, PLUS, and TOTAL subscriptions. The maintenance plan is determined based on the installed equipment and the building’s technical needs.

Rapid
interventions
A jammed or damaged curtain, or a panel indicating a fault, requires evaluation to determine the cause and remediation measures. We prioritize based on urgency, impact on building safety, and the established contractual conditions.
To prepare for the intervention, send the location, equipment model, problem description, and photos of the components or errors observed. This information reduces on-site diagnosis time.

Repairs and spare parts
After diagnostics, we determine which components require adjustment, repair, or replacement: mechanical elements, drive mechanisms, control devices, or power supply components, within the limits specified by the manufacturer.
Parts are selected according to the model and assembly documentation. For the fabric and components that contribute to fire performance, the remediation solution must comply with the equipment’s documented configuration.
Types of fire-resistant curtains serviced
We evaluate requests for curtains with different performance classes
Class E curtains
Ensures fire integrity

Class EW curtains
Ensures integrity and limitation of thermal radiation

Class EI curtains
Ensures integrity and thermal insulation
Performance duration and conditions of use are verified in each equipment’s documentation. Classes E, EW, and EI have different requirements and are not interchangeable.
Requests may concern curtains installed indoors or outdoors, including equipment with gravity descent and electric raising. The possibility of intervention is determined after identifying the model and assessing the existing configuration.

How our process works
A simple and transparent process, from first contact to completion of the intervention. You know exactly what’s coming next, who’s in charge, and what you’re getting — no ambiguities, no hidden costs.
You send us the location, the number of units of equipment, and the problem observed. For maintenance, we also discuss the available documentation and the service history.
We inspect the curtain and its associated components. Tests are coordinated with the building manager and, when necessary, with the company that maintains the fire detection and alarm system.
You receive the proposed work, the required components, and the intervention conditions. The recommendations highlight remediation priorities.
After the work is approved, we carry out the intervention and the related inspections. The report records the operations performed and any additional measures recommended.
Standards and compliance
Interventions take into account the manufacturer’s instructions and the installation documentation.
SR EN 13501-2
This is the European standard adopted in Romania for classifying fire performance, including classes E, EW, and EI.
P118

Frequently asked questions
How often should a fire-resistant curtain be inspected?
The frequency is determined according to the manufacturer’s documentation and the applicable installation requirements. The plan may include routine inspections performed by trained personnel and specialized servicing. A maintenance subscription must be tailored to these requirements.
Is maintenance necessary if it has never been triggered?
Yes. The absence of activations does not confirm the condition of the fabric, mechanisms, or controls. Periodic inspections help identify problems that may go unnoticed while the curtain remains retracted in its housing.
Are a fire-resistant curtain and a smoke curtain the same thing?
They have different roles and performance. A smoke curtain is designed to control smoke movement, while a fire-resistant curtain provides the declared performance for fire separation. A unit may have additional performance features, but these must be confirmed in the documentation.
What do classes E, EW, and EI mean?
E designates fire integrity, EW adds limitation of thermal radiation, and EI includes thermal insulation. The number associated with the class indicates the performance duration, in minutes, under the testing and classification conditions specified for the equipment.
What happens if there is a power outage?
Behavior depends on the model and control system. Some curtains use gravity-based safety descent, and the configuration may include backup power. Operation under these conditions is verified according to the assembly documentation, through planned tests.
Can damaged fabric be repaired?
The solution is determined after evaluation and according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Damage may require replacing the material or an assembly. Improvised patching does not confirm that fire performance is preserved.
Can you evaluate curtains installed by another supplier?
Yes, you can request an evaluation of existing equipment. The possibility of service is determined after identifying the model, consulting the documentation, and checking the availability of compatible components.
How much does service for a fire curtain cost?
Cost depends on the model, dimensions, access to the equipment, control configuration, and the work required. For an estimate, the location, photos, identification details, and a description of the problem are useful. The quote is determined following the evaluation.
