Athermic Polycarbonate
Macrolux Athermic polycarbonate is produced using a unique technology that allows the creation of two-color sheets: they are defined by the combination of an opaque color on the lower side and a diverse range of colors on the upper side.
This provides high aesthetic value and the possibility of use in a wide range of applications: greenhouses and winter gardens, domes, markets, pedestrian tunnels, skylights for shopping centers, pool covers, office spaces, and, in general, for covering any space where natural lighting, noise reduction, and interior environment control are needed (factors that, according to a study by GfK Romania and results published in the latest issue of Constructiv magazine, enhance employee productivity and are among the most sought-after characteristics regarding working conditions).
The two-color structure and mass coextrusion with metallic particles of Macrolux Athermic polycarbonate sheets result in a substantial reduction of the greenhouse effect, while maintaining the well-known light transmission properties characteristic of polycarbonate.
A simple test conducted at the TNO center in the Netherlands reveals the potential of athermic sheets: after exposure for 2 hours in the midday sun of a box made entirely of 10 mm thick transparent cellular polycarbonate, an interior temperature of 70 degrees Celsius was recorded; the same test, repeated with a box made of 10 mm thick Athermic polycarbonate, resulted in an interior temperature of 50 degrees Celsius.
For enclosed spaces, KADRA recommends using athermic polycarbonate sheets with thicknesses ranging from 16 to 35 mm and complex structures with a minimum of 5 walls, thus achieving superior thermal insulation (from 1.95 W/sqmK to 1.3 W/sqmK) and a 40% reduction in the greenhouse effect, allowing energy savings for temperature control and a high degree of comfort.
The standard color range includes combinations: smoky (bronze) / opaque white; gray / opaque white; blue / opaque white; green / opaque white; copper / opaque white.
The tone of opaque white can be ordered according to the desired shading coefficient.
All Macrolux polycarbonate sheets are produced in Switzerland, have UV protection, and a 10-year warranty.
