Incuboxx – a Different Kind of Building, in Romania, Timisoara
The Timisoara City Hall developed a project to support entrepreneurs in the Information and Communication Technology (IT) field named Incuboxx. This project, estimated at 19 million lei, built with city hall funds as well as European financing, represents a good example to follow for the administrations of large cities in Romania.
Incuboxx – a Different Kind of Building
The Incuboxx building was designed by the Architecture Office – Andreescu Gaivoronschi and stands out both for its modern design and the technical solutions used. Kadra supplied the polycarbonate used for the facades. The architects chose to use this innovative system built from modular polycarbonate panels for the facades. The entire surface of the building, approximately 2800 sqm, is constructed using this system of panels joined by the classic tongue-and-groove solution. Incuboxx is already a brand gaining notoriety through the uniqueness of the construction, which becomes a symbol of the project.
Incuboxx – Polycarbonate System
The modular polycarbonate panels have a thickness of 40 mm, feature 11 walls with the outer layer colored blue. The panels have UV protection and come with a 10-year warranty. Additionally, the panels were extruded with an IR filtering layer that dramatically reduces the greenhouse effect and ensures comfort inside during the summer. The panels provide thermal insulation of 0.97 W/sqmK and sound insulation of 24 dB.
With this polycarbonate panel system, continuous facades can be created with minimal supporting structure behind. The obtained exterior surface will be continuous, without any visible fastenings. Through this innovative system, Incuboxx practically becomes a compact and continuous polycarbonate box, benefiting from a series of advantages resulting from this.
This technical solution for facades offers good thermal insulation, high protection, the possibility of replacement, easy change of some areas of the facade, reduced installation times, low maintenance and repair costs (replacement), being one of the most recommended also in terms of total costs.
