With an estimated value of 67 million euros, the automated access systems market is experiencing an upward trend, driven by the development of the construction sector. This is one of the conclusions of the recent study published by MKOR, the first dedicated to the automated access systems segment in Romania. With the top 3 positions occupied by renowned international manufacturers, KADRA is in the top 5 suppliers of access solutions. With sales last year of almost 26 million lei and a market share of 7.7%, KADRA, the only integrated supplier of automated access solutions, is an important player, ranking fourth among the most significant brands in the Romanian automated access systems industry.
The non-residential sector (with commercial and industrial-logistic segments) is the main client of companies operating in the automated access solutions market, bringing 72% of sales. The study published by MKOR indicates that this market has reached a higher degree of maturity compared to previous years, with clients shifting their focus from price to product quality. Beneficiaries are increasingly interested in products having extended warranties and post-sale services, in addition to premium quality. KADRA, a one-stop shop providing customized access solutions and systems for all types of constructions, assists its clients from the consultancy, design, and installation phases to service and maintenance, which concretely means optimizing project costs.
With a less accelerated growth rate than last year, according to INS, the automated access systems market will follow the same upward trend in the next 2 years, estimated to reach 459 million lei, registering a growth of 37%.
How the Covid-19 Pandemic Influenced the Romanian Automated Access Systems Market
The Covid-19 pandemic led to a rapid increase in buyer interest for controlled access systems and contactless controlled access, which substantially reduce the risk of contamination and disease spread. The study conducted by MKOR shows that the demand for contactless access systems increased by 10% last year compared to the previous period and estimates that the contactless systems market will reach 20% by 2026.

The Future is Smart!
The study conducted by MKOR highlights that the vast majority of suppliers and experts in the automated access systems market estimate that this segment will grow due to the upward trend in the construction sector, the need for security and controlled access in the context of the pandemic, and the higher adoption rate of new technologies. Moreover, Smart Mobility projects are experiencing spectacular growth, according to data provided by the same source – 75% more in 2021 compared to 2020. Last year, 260 Smart Mobility projects were implemented, of which 44 were parking optimizations. Smart parking solutions along with charging stations for electric cars are among the most popular solutions of this kind in Romania – emphasizes the market analysis conducted by MKOR. In these fields, KADRA has introduced several firsts to the Romanian market: it is the first company to introduce card payment and the option of contactless payment with a smartphone at automated parking payment stations.
“Smart Mobility solutions are a priority for KADRA. We aim to reconfigure the everyday urban space so that people feel comfortable, free, and safe. It is encouraging that more and more people understand not only that the future is smart, but also that it is here.”
