KADRA Installs 46 Electric Smoke Vents for the New Solina Hall in Alba Iulia
KADRA teams have delivered and installed nearly 50 smoke vents for the new construction of the Solina factory in Alba Iulia, the largest producer of spices and ingredients for the food industry in Romania.
Reconstruction of the Solina Factory with a Focus on Fire Safety Elements
A devastating fire, which was extinguished only after 5 days, destroyed the factory in 2019. In 2020, an extensive and ambitious reconstruction process of the industrial unit began, with an investment of 17 million euros. The factory is being built on the old site, occupying the same perimeter, but its structure has been redesigned for increased efficiency and safety.
Equipped with state-of-the-art EFSR (Early Suppression Fast Response) sprinkler systems, the factory and office area had special requirements regarding the smoke and hot gas evacuation vents (smoke vents), requirements that KADRA fully met.
The necessity of total control over the smoke vents, and the possibility for IGSU intervention teams to command the opening/closing of the vents for efficient fire extinguishing, required the use of a modern smoke evacuation system with electric smoke vents.
Unlike the pneumatic smoke vent (a vent that, in case of fire, opens and remains open), the electric smoke vent can open automatically in case of fire but can also be opened/closed by firefighters at the appropriate time for efficient fire extinguishing and evacuation of smoke.
46 Skylux Electric Vents Compliant with European Standard EN12101-2
KADRA delivered and installed electric smoke vents, produced by our partner, SKYLUX NV (Belgium), a manufacturer with over 50 years of history. 46 SKYLUX NV type 160 CE electric vents, of various sizes, with a 160-degree opening, compliant with European standard EN12101-2, were successfully delivered and installed at the new Solina production unit.

Smoke Vents that Ensure Natural Ventilation
Due to the possibility of total control over opening and closing, Skylux 160 CE electric smoke vents also have the advantage of being used for daily natural ventilation. For certain areas of the building, KADRA provided a complex natural ventilation solution that included electric vents, a system monitored and controlled by control panels (smoke evacuation and ventilation) compliant with EN 12101-10, CE marked, weather modules equipped with rain and wind sensors. The control units covered different areas of the buildings, controlling isolated vents or groups of 2, 4, 5, 10, or 13 electric vents.
All vents and control units installed by KADRA are CE marked, compliant with EN12101, and are accompanied by the legal compliance documents required by IGSU, according to current legislation. It is important for us to provide the most efficient solutions, in accordance with national and European legislation.
