Returning to a Normal Pace of Life - Challenges for which We Have Solutions
Automatic visitor flow control to maintain social distancing in crowded spaces
All over the world, there is talk now about returning to normalcy, resuming the work and life pace that allows us to continue our activities while respecting social distancing and hygiene rules.
Access to enclosed spaces (stores, malls, supermarkets, pharmacies, etc.) was a challenge during the peak of the pandemic and will continue to be a concern with the much-awaited relaxation, when we will have more freedom of movement but will need to avoid crowding spaces, especially enclosed ones.
The Flow Control solution from Record can be used in any building where visitor flow control is necessary: from stores to public institutions, offices, factories, restaurants, cafes – any location where maintaining social distance is a priority.
The system monitors the number of people in the building and automatically deactivates the entrance door when the pre-set limit for indoor occupancy is reached. Thus, visitor flow can be accurately controlled to maintain a safe environment and avoid congestion.

It is a cost-effective solution in the medium and long term that will relieve employees (cashiers, security personnel) of an additional task: being vigilant about the number of customers entering the space. It will also help reduce the costs of sanitizing those spaces.
The Flow Control system:
- automatically monitors the number of people present in a premises in real-time and the maximum allowed number. These values can be adjusted by simply pressing buttons (+/–/reset);
- automatically deactivates the access door if the maximum allowed number of people is reached;
- the access door remains closed until the number of people falls below the maximum limit.
These functionalities allow compliance with local regulations and limit access to the building/store, while exit routes are not affected.
The system installation is quick, taking only 2-4 hours, and no special equipment is required.
The system operates 100% autonomously and is compatible with almost all types of automatic doors.
Setting and then modifying the parameters that allow or block access is done quickly and easily either by technicians from administrative or maintenance teams or even by the store manager. There is the possibility to adjust the maximum occupancy level of the premises (with + / -). And the system can be easily turned on or off as needed.
For customers, the message that entry is allowed (green LED) or stopped (red LED) is visible thanks to the LED strips mounted on the door frames.
The world is changing before our eyes; to adapt and remain functional, we must implement sustainable long-term solutions that will be useful now, during the peak of the crisis, but may prove useful in various other contexts.
