TORMED Doors with Radiation Protection

A modern hospital, equipped with modern equipment, also needs special doors that meet specific characteristics for each requirement. The TORMED range includes automatic airtight and semi-airtight doors for operating rooms, automatic swing doors for access for people with disabilities, rapid automatic doors for emergency units, radiation protection, as well as windows for instrument transfer, fire protection solutions, or parking management systems for hospitals.

Tormed doors with lead inserts are used in areas where there are medical devices that emit radiation and are available in two construction variants: pivoting or sliding. They can be made of stainless steel, painted galvanized steel, or can be clad with HPL. The thickness of the lead inserts is determined according to the requirements imposed by the project, which generally must have the approval of CNCAN (National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control). Doors with lead inserts can be made between 0.5 mm and 6 mm. The most common requests are those that require the insertion of a 2 mm lead sheet.

Each door complies with European medical standards. Additionally, a series of constructive elements favor hygiene maintenance, allow quick cleaning, and resistance to chemical cleaning products.

For TORMED doors with radiation protection, the Tormed X-Ray automation system is recommended, specially built for sliding doors with increased weight. Moreover, this system allows synchronization of the doors with radiology equipment, blocking unauthorized access during the operation of the device.

A series of medical projects benefit from TORMED solutions: Gomoiu Hospital in Bucharest where approximately 800 doors were installed, including radiology doors (lead doors), airtight sliding door automation, HPL-clad doors for wards. Radiology doors from the TORMED range are also found at Sf. Ioan Suceava Hospital, in a number of 4, or at the Amethyst Private Oncology Clinic in Bucharest, where automatic swing radiology doors (lead doors) were installed.
