Automated Parking Parkomatic with 400 Spaces for the Hipodrom Neighborhood in Sibiu

The newest parking in Sibiu was put into use at the beginning of March. Beyond creating a significant number of parking spaces, the local administration’s project also aimed to free the area from parked cars and return the public space to the residents of the area. The parking is fully automated, equipped with the intelligent management system for such complex parking, Parkomatic by KADRA.

Over 400 Parking Spaces and Stations for Charging Electric Cars

This is a high-capacity parking with over 400 parking spaces for those living in the area or for visitors. Of these, 320 are indoors and 100 outdoors. The parking spaces are organized on 6 levels, pedestrian access to the upper levels can be made by stairs or elevator.

The parking is monitored by video and guarded 24/7. For drivers with electric cars, there are 4 double charging stations on the ground floor, which can serve up to 8 vehicles simultaneously. The parking also has reserved spaces for people with disabilities, as well as 23 spaces for the safe parking of motorcycles.

The area around the parking has also been arranged with green space and a playground for the comfort of those living in the area. The total investment announced by the city hall amounted to 23 million lei, and the works advanced rapidly, with the parking being inaugurated even earlier than initially planned.

Simple Use for Drivers, Hassle-Free Management for Authorities

Access with the car in the parking is free in this initial stage. Press the button at the barrier and take the ticket. Upon exit, the barrier will automatically lift, recognizing the license plate number thanks to the LPR camera.

The KADRA team installed an intelligent parking system Parkomatic adapted to the capacity and operational needs of the parking. The system is equipped with 2 entrances, 2 exits, and 2 automatic payment stations.

The automatic payment stations are equipped with a banknote recycler for cash payments as well as a card payment system. The integration of the automatic payment station with the entire automated parking system (entry and exit terminals, automatic barriers, license plate recognition systems, controllers for recording available spaces, software that centralizes all data) means a compact parking system that offers the possibility of operation without the need for an operator.

Additionally, in the parking system there are 2 displays available for showing the total number of spaces. Moreover, on each level, there is a large panel displaying the number of available spaces at that level. For real-time tracking, controllers are also installed to count the available spaces on each level.

The parking will also be completed with 4 door terminals for secure pedestrian access in the parking, a terminal for secure access to the bicycle parking, a terminal for secure access to toilets. All these allow access by scanning a valid ticket or a proximity card for subscribers.

Hipodrom is the largest, most complex, and populated neighborhood of Sibiu with a long history behind it. It was time for the residents of the neighborhood and those who transit it to have a parking at the standards of any European city, and a green area around it, perfect for outdoor relaxation.
