Automatic Sliding Door - Automatic and Safe Access for JTI Romania Employees

In a period when the pandemic imposed changes not only in terms of interaction and behavior in people’s daily lives but also at the workplace, adaptation was the order of the day. From the expansion of work from home, where activity allowed, to establishing rotations of teams present simultaneously at the office, to strict rules regarding interaction with colleagues, each organization made the best and most suitable decision. However, there are companies, especially in production, where working from home can only be applied to a limited extent and where measures have been taken for the safety of employees who come to the office, factory, or platforms.

Automatic Sliding Door for JTI

KADRA teams responded to JTI Romania’s request to automate access paths for the cigarette factory and the company’s headquarters. The factory on the Pipera platform is recognized for efficiency and performance within the JTI group, with a natural concern for the safety of employees and collaborators who cross its threshold, especially in the context generated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The handle of a door is one of the most exposed surfaces to repeated contact. A mundane object thus becomes the place where viruses or bacteria freely develop, which then come into contact with the hands of those who touch them by the simple act of opening the door.

There are also clean access solutions, such as the automatic sliding door, equipped with a sensor system that allows touchless opening. Such doors have been installed by KADRA teams at the office building and the cigarette factory of JTI Romania.

Safety for Employees

The company wanted to guarantee the safety of its employees and collaborators right from the main entrance, with automatic, contactless access. For this, an automatic sliding door was installed that opens towards the reception, this reception area being itself separated from the office area by a full glass automatic door.

To allow employees to pass safely through the building, separate flows for entry and exit were created, both with automatic access paths, based on the already implemented access control system or the installation of no-touch buttons, which operate with sensors that remotely activate the opening system for the automatic sliding door, thus reducing contamination risks.

Such “touchless” sensors can be easily and quickly mounted on various surfaces like a switch and operate after installing detection settings that act within a range of 15 to 80 cm.

Automatic Sliding Door for the Cigarette Factory

Automatic access was also provided for the cigarette factory, through a system of sliding doors in one or two panels, some of them equipped with a break-out system, the latter allowing rapid and safe evacuation of people from the building in case of fire. Additionally, the existing swing doors have been automated to allow touchless opening.

An infected person who touches doors (at the entrances/exits of the organization) risks contaminating all those who touch those doors. That is why the automatic door is the only safe access solution."
