Parkomatic Automated Parking System for the Gondola Lift and Olympic Slope Borșa in Maramureș

A destination increasingly appearing on the map of ski enthusiasts is the Olympic slope in Borșa, Maramureș, located on the northern slope of the Rodnei Mountains, which has been brought back into circuit in recent years. With two available slopes, one 3 km red category and one 3 km blue category, the slope is equipped with artificial snow installation and night lighting and is homologated by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, capable of hosting national and international sports competitions.

The ski area also has a cable transport installation type gondola lift with a length of 2.6 km, with a capacity of 1800 people per hour, 56 gondolas with 8 seats.

In the immediate vicinity of the gondola lift, there is also the parking lot with 80 spaces, organized on two levels and an outdoor area, which has recently been equipped with a Parkomatic automated parking system for optimal management of available spaces and a smoother experience for drivers.

The Parkomatic system adapted to the project’s needs is equipped with an entrance and an exit, with a manual booth with operator and automatic booth with cash payment (coins and banknotes with banknote recirculation) and chip&pin and contactless bank card.

In addition, exterior displays have been installed to show available spaces by zone and display the total number of free spaces; these are visible on a pole for guidance towards the parking from a main street.

The parking lot has automatic barriers for heavy traffic, ensuring traffic flow in the entrance and exit areas.

For a ski area that wants to attract tourists, a well-equipped and organized parking lot is a basic condition considering that they most often arrive at the destination by car, with bulky equipment with them, and spend several good hours on the slope, so they really need to leave their car in a safe place.
