Sliding Door and Automatic Swing Doors for UPU Floreasca

The reception area for patients brought in emergency by ambulance to Floreasca Hospital has been modernized with a sliding door with break-out and automatic swing doors.

The doors of one of the busiest emergency reception units in the country had not been functioning for many years, necessitating their replacement with automatic, modern, and functional solutions to allow easy access for patients brought by ambulance.

The old doors had not been functioning in automatic mode for a long time, and patients had to touch the door at entry and exit each time, a procedure that became even more problematic in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the risk of contamination with the new coronavirus through touching contaminated surfaces was increasingly high.

Swing doors were completely replaced and automated so that they could be opened with the help of sensors, without contact with the door surface.

KADRA specialists also proposed replacing the sliding door with a sliding door with break-out for a larger opening when needed, in case multiple ambulances arrive simultaneously, as well as to meet ISU evacuation conditions in case of fire.

From a chromatic and aesthetic point of view, the entrance area at UPU Floreasca underwent a significant transformation, from a dull gray to a bright and clean blue.

The installation was carried out under conditions where the area had to remain functional, access could not be stopped at any time. Thus, colleagues from KADRA Service worked in sections: first, the sliding door was replaced with a sliding door with a break-out system, then they moved on to the swing doors. Given that a very narrow space remained between the open door and the side walls, lateral protection sensors were installed for the safety of those using or standing in the respective perimeter.

Additionally, the functionality of the two areas was considered for future transformation into ambulance access and patient/medical staff access.

The installation of automatic doors was done quickly, respecting the work pace of UPU, and the installation teams strived to complete the work as quickly as possible to allow unrestricted access to the emergency reception area.
