Specialized Medical Doors from KADRA for the Emergency Reception Unit of ZalăU Hospital
Zalău County Emergency Hospital underwent a complex process of expanding the Emergency Reception Unit (ERU), a project that spanned several years and was recently completed. Following this expansion, ERU Zalău has the largest usable area among units of this type in the country.
KADRA was involved from the very beginning in this project by providing and installing various types of doors adapted to the specific needs of ERU Zalău, according to the different construction phases.
Safety and Accessibility in ERU
The basement and ground floor were the spaces reconfigured and expanded to accommodate the new facilities and equipment necessary to provide quality emergency medical care.
For the basement area, KADRA teams provided CPL laminated doors for administrative sectors such as: changing rooms, staff rest areas, offices, and pantries. This type of door represents the ideal technical solution for areas with heavy traffic, being durable and impact-resistant doors. Additionally, fire-resistant metal doors were installed, including two automatic sliding doors in the stretcher and trolley wash area, thus contributing to the security and functionality of the unit.
For the ground floor space, where the most intense medical activity takes place, KADRA specialists proposed innovative solutions to ensure accessibility and safety. Telescopic door with one fast leaf, one slow leaf, and one fixed leaf was placed in the access area of ERU.
Tormed Medical Doors
On the same level, several doors from the Tormed range, specially designed for hospitals, were installed. Thus, semi-hermetic airtight doors, with metal frames adapted for different spaces in ERU, such as chemical isolators, treatment and resuscitation areas, pediatric emergencies, were installed.
Additionally, Tormed swing doors, with special features such as moisture resistance and equipped with ventilation grille, portholes, metal covering frames, hinges, and anti-snag stainless steel handle, were placed in sanitary groups and other spaces where a durable and functional solution was needed. Fire-resistant metal doors were integrated where safety standards required it, thus completing the fire protection infrastructure.

This mix of solutions adapted to the specific needs and requirements of each area in the emergency reception unit was designed in close collaboration with the beneficiary (representatives of the medical unit) and the general contractor responsible for the entire work, and represents proof of KADRA’s commitment to providing quality products and customized solutions for critical medical infrastructures.
In conclusion, the expansion of the Emergency Reception Unit at Zalău County Emergency Hospital represents an important step towards improving emergency medical care capacity in the region. Optimal conditions have thus been created for medical staff and patients, ensuring that the infrastructure complies with the highest standards of quality and safety.
