The PiteșTi County Hospital is Modernizing with State-Of-The-Art Medical Doors
Starting in 2022, the Pitești County Emergency Hospital began an extensive rehabilitation and expansion process to provide better conditions for both medical staff and, especially, patients. With a substantial investment from European funds as well as the local budget, the hospital aims to modernize and be brought up to today’s standards in modern medicine.
Complete Range of Medical Doors by KADRA
As expected, infrastructure works and space reorganization were the first steps. Among these was the replacement of doors with safe and reliable ones. Our colleagues at KADRA installed a complete portfolio of doors: from fire-resistant doors lasting 90 or 120 minutes, to multifunctional metal doors, and doors for clean rooms from the Tormed range, specially designed by KADRA specialists for the medical sector.
Automatic Doors for Clean Rooms from the Tormed Range
Tormed automatic sliding doors allow partial sealing (on two sides), with stops on the vertical branches of the frame and contact on the top line and floor, as well as silent automation – thanks to anti-vibration operators, they are ideal for areas where quietness is an essential requirement.
They also guarantee increased hygiene – through the use of rounded casings and covers with hidden screws to prevent dust and particle accumulation and facilitate maintenance; a series of special devices discharge the electrostatic energy accumulated on the moving panels, thus avoiding the attraction of impurities. Medical doors are equipped with a touchless “clearwave” button system that limits medical staff contact with the door, thereby reducing the risk of infections.
Also installed here were guillotine transfer windows designed to facilitate the controlled exchange of surgical materials (safe passage) between two different areas, ensuring hygiene. Additionally, these windows enable the transfer of instruments into operating rooms from sterilization rooms. In rooms with controlled atmosphere, “non-contamination” of air is ensured during the transfer.

Fire Safety with Fire-Resistant Doors
The fire-resistant doors installed in the hospital in Pitești have technical approval EI in Romania for fire protection. They are fire-resistant for 90 and 120 minutes, constructed from galvanized steel casing with reinforced material inside, having a total thickness of 60 mm. The “Z” type frame on 4 sides is fixed with anchors or dowels and has a removable lower crossbar.
To complete the solutions designed to secure the hospital building in Pitești in case of fire, smoke vents were installed, compliant with current regulations, especially the European standard EN 12101-2, which are essential for protecting people and the building in case of fire. By automatically opening the smoke vents, hot gases and smoke are quickly evacuated, keeping emergency exits visible and thus protecting the people inside. This also ensures the entry of oxygen and the elimination of toxic gases.
KADRA offers a complete and complex range of solutions for the medical sector (state or private hospitals, clinics, or medical offices) suitable for both renovations and new constructions. KADRA’s access control solutions comply with all hygiene and safety standards, which are priorities for a hospital, being versatile in terms of design and integration with the new or existing architecture of the space, helping to define safe and fast flows.
