Tormed Medical Doors for orșOva Municipal Hospital

The Orșova Municipal Hospital underwent an extensive renovation process and recently inaugurated an internal medicine department at European standards, with other departments also undergoing rehabilitation processes to create optimal conditions for medical practice, enhance the safety and comfort of patients and the medical team.

KADRA participated in this ambitious project, proposing a safe and clean access solution: medical doors. Among these are the Tormed sliding and swinging doors, equipped with “clear wave,” an automatic opening system that requires no touch, thus adhering to sanitary standards that reduce contamination risks.

A Custom-Made Solution for the Needs of a Modern Internal Medicine Department

Started during the pandemic, the modernization works of three of the hospital’s departments and compartments were recently completed. As a result of this rehabilitation, a new compartment, the diabetes and nutrition diseases unit, was established. The investment amounted to 760,000 lei, funded from the hospital’s budget and sponsorships.

Inaugurated on June 18, the Internal Medicine Department at Orșova Hospital has 17 beds. For this modern department, the KADRA engineering team proposed the installation of sliding doors instead of swinging ones, a solution better suited to the available space configuration, allowing rapid and touch-free access. Automatic sliding doors are equipped with a porthole, so patients can be monitored from a distance, a feature that provides them with extra comfort and means more efficiency for the medical team.

Hospital-acquired infections are most easily transmitted through touch. Therefore, Tormed ward doors were specially designed to prevent the transmission of nosocomial infections, both through the materials used (surfaces that can be frequently disinfected, being resistant to specific substances), through the structure (there are no joints or uneven areas that allow dust or dirt accumulation), and through design.

Integrated Project Approach: Consulting, Design, Supply, and Installation at a Rapid Pace

The challenge of such a rehabilitation project lies, on one hand, in identifying optimal access solutions that meet sanitary safety standards and the constraints related to the available space and its configuration (considering that it is an old building, where reconfiguration interventions are limited).

The KADRA team, consisting of engineers, installation technicians, along with colleagues from supply, worked concertedly to bring and install the appropriate solutions in the hospital’s new departments as quickly as possible. Thus, a project that would have typically lasted nine weeks was completed in just seven weeks. This is the advantage of collaborating with an integrated supplier of automatic access solutions: they provide all resources and an extensive and competent team that takes on all issues and resolves them in record time.
