Automatic Sliding Doors with Break out for the Modernization of the Passenger Terminal in Constanța Port

Built in 2005, the passenger terminal of Constanța port offers optimal conditions for the docking of river cruise ships making stops in Constanța Port, as well as for maritime passenger ships, including large ones, since the sea depth at the quay allows this.

Automating Access Routes Means Comfort for Passengers

Allowing an unrestricted flow of travelers during disembarkation and embarkation is essential to ensure, on one hand, control formalities, and on the other hand, to create a comfortable experience for passengers arriving at the port.

Right from the construction of the passenger terminal, it was equipped with 14 automatic sliding doors in two panels to optimally handle the flow of travelers. Almost 18 years after the inauguration, after millions of passengers have passed through the port area, a renovation of the access routes was needed.

Therefore, KADRA teams delivered and installed a new set of automatic sliding doors equipped with a breakout system, the automation of access routes having in this case a dual role: facilitating rapid and comfortable transit in the terminal area as well as ensuring the safe evacuation of people from the premises in an emergency situation. 8 automatic doors are placed outside the building, and 6 doors are installed inside. The doors are equipped with safety thermal insulation glass (double glazing). They are also equipped with a sliding profile with a gasket separate from the automation structure to reduce vibrations and noise during operation.

The Break out System Adds Extra Safety, Especially in Emergency Situations

In case of emergency, the sliding doors can be opened by mechanical push (individual swing opening) using the panic system (break-out).

The panic system can be individually locked against accidental opening (wind, push, force). Also, in case of power supply interruption, the doors can be operated manually.

A facility like a port terminal, which is traversed by a large number of people for whom access control, security, and comfort must be ensured, the automatic sliding doors with breakout installed by KADRA represented the optimal solution.
