Revolving Door with Bookfold Breakout for Metropolis Center
METROPOLIS CENTER is a unique office building in the Bucharest landscape, being one of the few architectural projects that successfully integrated the facade of an old building (the first printing house in Bucharest, “Cartea Românească” printing house) into an ultra-modern construction.
The mix between old and modern, traditional and avant-garde, industrial and urban, the way functionality and design are combined make this office building an extremely lively and full of personality center. The building has 7 floors, over 18,000 sqm of available space, and houses offices as well as a shopping center.
Elegant and Functional Revolving Door
For such a special project, the door, the business card of a building, could only be one that respects the design and architecture but also allows rapid access and safe evacuation in case of emergency for those transiting the building. This was achieved by placing a 3-wing revolving door that elegantly and functionally separates the business center flows from the commercial area of the building.
The door is equipped with a special bookfold breakout system: in an emergency situation, the wings of the door fold like a book, allowing a larger evacuation space. All the panels fold in the middle of the door, and evacuation can be done both to the left and right of them.
Another revolving door was placed at the exit of the building towards Vasile Alecsandri Street, respecting the same functionality and design standards.
The entire project involved a mixed team of KADRA specialists: from colleagues who proposed the solution, adapted it to the specifics of the building and the needs of the beneficiary, to technicians who installed, checked, and adjusted the operating parameters so that the two automatic revolving doors at Metropolis Center function perfectly and ensure the comfort and safety of those who work or visit the impressive building in the center of Bucharest.
