Emergency Solutions for the New Law in Force

Starting October 1st, fire safety authorizations have become mandatory; According to legal provisions, commissioning without obtaining fire safety authorization for new constructions and arrangements or for existing ones where modification/change of use works have been carried out will result in fines or, in severe cases, the cessation of operation or use of the constructions or arrangements.

To comply with the fire safety authorization, buildings must be properly equipped with products that facilitate safety within the building. Among these are fire-resistant doors, window motors, smoke extraction door motors, curtains, automatic doors with break-out systems.

To obtain the fire safety authorization from IGSU, it is necessary that the fire-resistant doors used in the building have technical approval. Fire-resistant doors can be sliding or swinging, made of metal, glass, or wood. Their fire resistance varies depending on the chosen options, on a scale of 30-60-90-120 or even more than 120 minutes. The range of fire-resistant doors is extensive precisely to ensure the solution is suitable for all types of projects. KADRA has all these solutions in its portfolio to meet all types of projects. Moreover, break-out systems used for sliding and revolving doors represent a very good solution for ensuring evacuation in case of emergency.

Fire-resistant curtains and smoke curtains play an essential role in fire safety, preventing the passage of smoke/fire and spreading within the building, ensuring free access paths for evacuation. Curtains are modern systems used in heavily frequented spaces such as malls, shopping centers, underground parking lots, and public spaces. At the same time, curtains maintain the freedom of architects in design through their simplicity in space.

Automatic doors with break-out system

Emergency evacuation systems are available for automatic sliding and revolving doors and allow the creation of wide spaces in extreme cases. For revolving doors, break-out systems ensure the folding of inner segments, allowing the widening of passage openings. For sliding doors, the system allows the pivoting at 90° of door segments and side panels, regardless of the door’s position. This specification is added to the normal, linear opening movement.

Air intake motors (with a role in smoke extraction)

The opening of doors through electrically operated motors plays a role in bringing fresh air into the building. This process generates a pressure difference that facilitates smoke evacuation through the upper part of the building (smoke hatches or electrically operated windows). KADRA provided such a solution at TNB (National Theatre Bucharest), saving the building’s facade (which otherwise had to receive shutters for smoke extraction).

Window motors

They can be mounted on any type of window. Due to the electrical components included, window automation can be connected to control systems and can be operated simultaneously regardless of their number. The 24V systems can be activated even in case of fires and power outages.
